Why forced password change?

I do not want to change my password I like it how it is thank you. Make a setting to turn the changing password every so often. I do not want to change it regardless of how much safer it may make my account.

Where exactly did it ask you to change your password? From the website https://account.microsoft.com or through your devices such Xbox console or PC/mobile Xbox app?

It is not turned on actually but still forces me to change my password. Have I missed something else possibly? I never want to change my password unless I personally want to.

Hi Kaitlin!

You can actually turn that off when you change your account password. There's an option uncheck the option to "Make me change my password every 72 days".

Hi Tommy,

Thank you. I can try the authenticator but two step can not be used or I can't sign in to my 360. I used to have two step active and never had an issue but then after trying for over an hour to sign into my 360 I removed it to discover the tech is so old for the console that the newer methods of account protection didn't seem to work.
