Why even with automatic updates off is there so many forced updates in the Delta ring of the ...

I am receiving console updates nearly DAILY in the middle of Sea of Thieves without any warning at all, and I'm getting extremely mad about it.

I'd like to keep everything to do with the new Avatar system, so I'm probably at least going to wait for that to be public, and as much as I'd like to run Beta versions of Minecraft and Twitch and receive all the benefits, this is about to force me to leave
something that I really enjoy.

Why am I being shoved small updates left and right down my throat while I have lots of loot on me, while I am speaking to my significant other? I should not have to check a Reddit page, and EVEN WHILE I HAVE, THERE IS NOTHING about these CONSTANT updates I
am receiving. NOTHING. SO WHY AM I DEALING WITH THIS?! WHY IS THIS LIKE THIS AT ALL?! This is extremely rude and annoying, I'm fed up. I really don't want to give anyone an ear-full, but I am getting really close. Obviously I have a lot more I'd like to say
about this, but that would violate many terms.

Xbox Insider Hub too exclusive?

You just have to continue to be active in the program, take part in surveys, etc. but Alpha is also by invite only so you would have to wait to be invited into it by Microsoft.

How do the Xbox One Update Preview rings differ and how do I change rings?

There are four Xbox One Update Preview rings, which allow you control when and how often you will get early access to console updates. You’ll gain access to rings based on your activity as an Xbox Insider. If you’ve been invited to more than one ring, you
can switch between them from the Xbox Insider Hub.

The current Xbox One Update Preview rings are:

• Alpha – Open on an “invite only” basis and receives updates at the earliest point in the preview window.
• Beta – Open to Xbox Insiders with a Program tenure of 3 or more months and an Xbox Insider XP Level of 5 or higher. This ring receives updates shortly after Alpha.
• Delta – Open to any Xbox Insider with a tenure of 1 or more months that has reached Xbox Insider Level 2 or higher. Depending on certain edge cases where further attention is required from Alpha or Beta rings, Delta Insiders may receive
  system updates before Beta, though this is not a common scenario. Additionally, while early system updates are not guaranteed across the Delta ring, all Delta Insiders will receive the update prior to GA.
• Omega – Open to anyone and receives system updates shortly before the GA (General Availability) release.

 

Xbox Insider Hub too exclusive?

Now how would I access more surveys in the Hub? I've taken all available surveys in the last month or so and haven't received a new one for about two weeks. Is that normal?

 

Pythonbeard error, boom title screen lost everything, join back, get more stuff, Devil's Roar, ship gets exploded to bits, lost everything again, restored everything, got more stuff, XBOX UPDATE, DO IT NOW OR GO OFFLINE, LOST EVERYTHING. I. AM. EXTREMELY.
MAD. There is NO WARNING ANYWHERE ON ANY PAGE ABOUT THESE SMALL INCONVENIENT MULTIPLE BACK-TO-BACK UPDATES.

 

Hi, as they say you can't have your cake and eat it, those insider updates are mandatory and will be pushed to your Xbox despite you having automatic updates disabled. Your only option would be to remove your Xbox from the insider program totally or drop
down to the Omega ring where updates may be less frequent. I'm in the Alpha leap ahead ring myself and those regular updates are just a part of being in the program which I expect and accept.

 

There is no reason it should be forced that hard, especially with all the benefits it gives to be in the Program. It should at least be allowed to wait since they aren't even public updates, it should be at least slightly more fair. Even if I didn't play
games like this, I would still be annoyed.

I wish it AT MINIMUM gave me 15 minutes warning to put everything on my ship and invite someone to hold my place for a minute. It's sad that I can't even do that.

 

Some sort of warning would be nice I agree, what I always do is check for updates manually before starting a gaming session, at least that way the odds of an updating killing my gaming session is reduced quite a bit.

 

But that is the issue, I did, I checked in Settings, I checked the Reddit, there was no warning what-so-ever.

 

In that case there's really not a lot you can do, as the updates come with no option to postpone for later it's going to be a royal pain in the backside for you unless you take the drop down to Omega or leave if it's all so much of a problem.

There is of course always the option to request some sort of option to put the update off until you're ready by visiting the Insider Reddit pages and asking the question or even the Xbox Feedback website although that's primarily for other Xbox related matters
so maybe the Insider Reddit would be the better option.

 

That's true but even back in Omega it did that to me a few times, better than this though I guess. By chance do you know if Omega has the Avatar stuff right now?

 

I really wouldn't like to say yes to that as the Omega ring gets updates just before general release so the odds aren't good.

Xbox Insider Program FAQ

 

They are forced because you haven't been checking Xbox Insiders there are notifications on the day of update. You are given on average
6-8 hours before an update becomes mandatory. So plenty of time to check.

 

Avatar (beta) is Alpha SA, Alpha, Beta and Delta subset at this point in time

 

The Development team will only ever hold an update back, if they find a huge error. It is up to each insider to check and keep their console updated.

I check as soon as I switch my Xbox on, takes a few seconds to go look to see if there is an update.

 

There is no reason that I should have to check Reddit, especially given that I have to basically refresh it every hour and scroll through it to be in-the-know, but thank you for an actual link that isn't old and broken. Even a way to check an update status
page on Xbox.com would be much better, at least it would be right there and not so cluttered and annoying.
