Why "dumb" AI is the best thing to happen to multiplayer in years

I thought this was an interesting read and take on it.

This has been my argument since day one. AI makes the game feel much more alive and gives even the worst players a chance at developing their skills, getting some kills and a sense of accomplishment. Nobody is alienated, everybody just has fun.

 

I think that depend of the game and how is it balance....

Titanfall, great.Well balanced,adds life into the battlefied.

I'm more worried about solo games....I'm not talking about the difficulty but the way AI react.

For example in MGSV GS ,i took a tank,mess around and hide myself.After a while,AI acted like nothing happen,didn't brought back the tank where it was park,didn't try to investigate on the event....

Seems devs are more worried by resolution rather than improve AI.

 

agreed, at first i was just indifferent to the Titanfall IA, but now i like them for a couple of reasons, it makes the game more fun, the feeling of being in danger as you run out and the AI are yelling your position or damaging you a little, or running
into a building and one AI is choking another, i like it a lot.

and it has pulled my wife into the game, if she makes it home before me i'll find her playing and while she is not very good at the other game modes, she is wicked good at hardpoint and makes MVP a lot of the time.

 

Of course you want single player AI to be a little bit more challenging. If you walk through a campaign without a single death or finding something challenging then you might as well just go outside and walk to the end of the street; it makes you feel just
as accomplished and comes with additional fitness benefits.

It seems a shame but I can't help but notice the days of "I've been stuck on this boss for 3 days now" are rapidly dying out.

 

I wasn't aware there was such a thing as "smart" AI.

 

even tho the AI could be a litle more aggressive... would love to see the grunts act like spectres and spectres act a little more more human... I can see why Respawn did this... there are 3 types of players for all games.... the L33t players... The Average/fun
players and the sucky players... most FPS are aimed towards the Leet and average with no chance of the sucky/casuals to have any fun.... about time someone made a game all 3 levels can play together and feel like the TEAM won

 

Although the AI allows for more depth regarding strategy I worry about how fair it will be for new players when the better players start to really realize that they can use the AI as bait to lure in the new players to their untimely deaths...

 

It will only be a death that was going to happen anyway and even then people will still get a few kills from them. I think you're just looking too far in to a simple but very clever system.

 

GG do you mean hang around a friendly pod, cloaked in the corner and waiting... yeah.. been there done that

 

I like to use the spectre camp burn card and hang out with the AI spectres.

 

I've said many times before that I would rather play against real players, but the AI works well in Titanfall. There not completely useless; deter campers, something to always shoot at, etc.

 

I don't mind the AI in titanfall, but I still think they should play more like real players, and do a little more damage, and actually play the objective, etc.

However theres nothing good about rubbish AI in solo games, I mean elder scrolls as soon as you reach a certain level the AI become almost pointless, they might not need more damage but they could get evolve their combat ability.
