Why dose it take so long to install and or update a game from the disk to the HDD?

Sorry you're having issues with your game updates. Some game downloads, and game updates can be very large, so depending on your internet connection speed it could take a very long time like you said. Are you wireless or wired? If you're wireless I
would try using a wired Ethernet cable to see if it goes any faster. Also, to give everyone a better idea of whats going on, can you run a detailed network test and post back the results (upload speed, download speed, latency, ect). To run this test, go to
your home page, and press menu on your controller, then select settings. From the settings menu select Network. From the network menu select "Detailed Network Statistics".

Also PS3 actually decompresses the files and installs the games on the HDD like a PC (hence why it takes so long). X360's installation feature basically creates an disk image on the HDD, which meant the files would still have to decompressed in real-time.
So the whole bandwidth argument is completely invalid.

Takes about an hour or so if you are using a Disk, but there is also a 14gig update that must be installed as well.

So if you have slow internet, then it will take a long time, even if you have a disk.

Other wise, its an issue or a glitch with your xbox. Delete the game and start from scratch.

No,it didn't update to 64% in 2 minutes, it continued where it left off after I disconnected from the net.

It took another hour and 20 minutes to download and update before I could play. So why does it say "Ready to Start" when it isn't?

Why can't it download the update in the background, let me play while it's downloading, then ask to apply the update which is what other software does? Windows doesn't stop working while it downloads updates. I work in IT and I don't tell my users that I
need to apply a patch so they have to wait while I download it from the internet.

The game is on disk, not a download.

You haven't answered my other question - I installed the game on launch day, so why does it have to re-install?

What I am annoyed about is that I expect to put the disk in, allow for some time for it to install to the HDD, then be able to play. But with both Forza and COD it won't let me play until it's downloaded an update, and this has taken literally days. Looking
at other forums, everybody is complaining that game installs stick on 0% for hours, or shoot up to 98% and sit there for hours with no indication on how long it will take.

Delete the installed disks from the HDD, then install the HD Pack, then reinstall the game to the HDD
