Why don't my games run this well? (Xbox 360)

Some games run really well, like Rage, FEAR 2, FEAR 3, Max Payne 2 or Call of Duty 4. However, some games run badly like Max Payne 1, FEAR 1 or The Orange Box.

I understand that frame rates differ between games. However, I was watching some YouTube videos of games I have trouble running, and they seem to run much better than mine.

Why is this? My system was dusty as I just took it out of storage. Is it possible that dust can mess with frame rates?

The titles in your list are old games no longer supported by their devs and for that reason there has been no patch applied to them.

Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to record my Xbox.

How come those videos were much smoother than my games?

I don’t think dust would be playing a major role in the game performance.

Some of the titles you mention are a bit dated and as such they may not run/perform as better as the former group of titles you referenced.

In your video postings it might be more helpful to see actual footage of what your gameplay looks like.

I'm having the same problem with my tv. Except my Xbox 360 is running at 1080p but my Xbox one will not I don't know why???

Original xbox games that play on the 360 don't run very well at all which is why they stopped adding them.They weren't upscaled or optimised at all so look & play pretty terrible on the 360 & on a HD TV.

The original xbox games that play on the xbox one are upscaled & optimised to run a lot better.

It also depends on the game,you have to remember that a lot of original xbox games were only in 480p which looks great on a CRT TV but not so good on a HD TV.
