Why doesn't inviting/getting invited to a party work in Xbox Game Bar???

Hi, I have been trying to solve this issue for months now, but it is still frankly pissing me off, because the only solution I have found to it is restarting my whole PC.

Basically, when I get invited to an Xbox party on Game Bar on my PC, it does not open up any sort of chat that indicates I'm in a party. If I invite someone to my party, I get the same error as well. It basically never puts me in a party, and the only thing
that works is restarting my whole PC in order to actually be able to be in a party. Does anybody know why this happens or how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate any help here.

My friends are having the same issue, since I’m on console i have to send the invite out ti everyone & it works fine... my guess is its a bug.

I've had the same issue on/off as well, whenever the Xbox Game Bar is being a little funky, I use the Xbox Console Companion app and that usually lets me join/start parties without any problems. Hopefully that can provide a short term fix.

No idea what's causing the problem itself though, it's incredibly frustrating.

The game bar is still in beta so there is likely to be issues like this for a while yet. It is very annoying admittedly (it has happened to me) but a restart is the only thing i have found to work right now. reporting it is also a good way to let the Microsoft
team acknowledge that there is an issue and how big the issue extends

I've had the same issue for over a month as well. The only "light at the end" of all this is my buddy who's running on the Fast Ring of Windows 10 Preview Builds. My Game Bar version is 3.38.xx.xxx whatever. His version on Windows 2004 (Spring 2020 update)
is 4.xx.xxx and he has a button next to the "Search/Add" text field to "Start Party". He can even make the party invite-only (which when we DID have party chat via the Game Bar, we didn't have that function). So my hope is........ next major Windows update,
we'll get Party Chat working again. BUT IF ANY MSFT DEVS WANNA GIVE US A ROADMAP INSTEAD OF GUESSING............=)

Xbox companion app is discontinued, and the "Party Invitations" and "Games" notification settings are nonexistent in the Xbox PC app. Settings for invites and messages are all on the Game Bar app for PC.

You'll just have to make sure these settings are checked after reinstalling the game bar @ (Game Bar)Settings>Notifications>Xbox Social>Notify me when I'm invited to a party or multiplayer game
