Why doesn't game pass give my storage back?

Hi! My internet alias is Smummie, and I use game pass on PC!

I have 500 gigs of ssd storage until I'm able to get a bigger ssd. I use steam, epic and pc game pass. Epic and Steam have no issues: I can download an uninstall a game with no issues.

Two times this year I have had to factory reset my pc (resetting it now, again) because game pass will not give my storage back.

The first time I had to reset, I had 3 games off of game pass: House flipper, power wash Sim, and dreanlight valley. My subscription ran out so I un-installed them and I didn't get my storage back. I went in and removed all the files I had (ever) from Xbox and still, all that storage was taken. So after hours of trying to figure out what was wrong, I gave up and reset.

The second time was my fault for trusting that things would go different, but they didn't. This time I had atomic heart downloaded, and it's a huge game. Alongside this I had dreamlight valley downloaded as well. So when my game pass expired, I un-installed them. Well well, how stupid of me because now I'm currently resetting everything on my pc.

This is a bug that needs to be fixed. No other platform I use does this.

I have 29GB of free storage, how much more does it need? If the game is only 75GB why do I need over 100GB of free storage? I'll give it a try but it doesn't make any sense.

I know it is not released until May 2nd. Several of my friends on Xbox have said they could preinstall it. That doesn't seem to be an option for me. On top of that, Game pass gives 3 options, all three of which are pay options. It would be nice to have a fourth option that says "game pass" on it and gives some feedback as to why I can't pre-install on PC.

I just looked at my storage and I have GTA downloaded twice. One on internal storage (86 gb) and another on my external storage (100 gb). That might be messing with it. Should I delete one? It doesn’t prompt me to update at all. I was using game pass core in 2021 but we never played together then. I’m using Xbox game pass ultimate at the moment. No clue why it wants me to buy the $50 digital copy of gta.

Hi,

Pretty much all the error codes PC Game pass flags up are actually Windows errors. The Game Pass app is just an extension of the Windows Store - it doesn't even need to be running once a game is installed.

I asked about storage, as error 0x80070057 relates to low storage. But clearly, this isn't the problem here.

Can you give the advice
