Why does xbox one need to be connected to install games.

I think its outrageous that we need to be connected to the internet to install games cant you do anything about this? The ps4 doesnt need to be connected to install the games so why does the xbox one the machines are the same but the xbx1 is inferior in
that aspect you really need to pull your finger out to fix this since you are going to shut down the 360 server...

I got my new xbox one today, I am very excited to start playing! I put a game in and its taking forever to install, why? My ps4 installs games within 30 seconds. Why does the xbox one take so long? will there be an update to fix this?

Aka, it doesn't have to be on 24/7 but it's still needed. It's more of arguing semantics tbh. Anyway, going by what's been said by Harrison already, I bet to install the game you need to be online, if you are not online
to verify the game disk (and if it is registered to another console) it will not install and you cannot play it.

 

You could improve this by having it play off the disc since it wouldnt make a diff and the device would have more hard drive space fed up of waiting 7 hrs to play a game and it says u can install offline you just need the game patch thats a load of *** always

You can install games from the disc without being connected to online. The only installations that require to be connected online are game updates and digital game installs. If you encounter a message asking to update the game during installation, you can
always skip it so the game can fully install!

Which games are you installing from your disc that requires to be connected online? Could you also post back with the specific error message when you try to install games with your disc? Thanks!
