Why does Xbox one keep prompting us for a security code?

It's an account security setting on your microsoft account for when you sign into a new account. When you factory reset your console that would have cleared it as a trusted device.

Thank you, im logged into my microsoft account and have gone to devices and it just says “no issues found” and if i click into xbox there’s no option to trust the device or verify the device? Can you please tell me specifically what i have to do? The only
other option i can see is to turn off two step verification generally across my whole microsoft account?

What happens when you try to login with the aol.co.uk details on xbox.com. Does it log in to your current xbox live account or not?

If it does, is there any chance you set up Two step verification on the Microsoft (Xbox Live) Account?

If so then you will need to use an App password on the xbox 360 instead of the password. See this link for the how too:

have you set up Two step verification for one of those accounts? If so then you will need to set up a App password to be used on the 360 (instead of your account password)
