Why does Xbox Network Transfer not allow an "Updates" only option?

My son and I game share and as such we both have the same games loaded on our xboxes. However, every time there is an update (some VERY large) to a game, we both have to download it directly from the Xbox store instead of being able to download it to
one xbox and then transfer the update via LAN (saving bandwith and data limits). Instead, it has to copy the entire game across the LAN and some of these games are very large. This should be something Microsoft implements to help their customers save time
and money. Any thoughts or suggestions?

That's a really good suggestion, the best place for those suggestions is over at the official Xbox Insiders subreddit. They have a weekly request thread where we can request features and options for the Xbox team to look at. Here's a link to the relevant

In the meantime, a workaround could be to grab an external hard drive, download the updated game and store it on the hard drive. Then copy it from the external hard drive onto the other console. It's still going to take a bit of time though, unfortunately.

Network Transfer only allows the duplication of games from one Xbox One to another on the same local network. It does not affect the licensing of the titles, which are still tied to one and only one Microsoft account.

A) Why even show the option to transfer music to a usb flash drive if the option will never be available?

B) Why can I not transfer music off of it anyway? Does it rip CDs into a completely unusable garbage format only readable by the Xbox or something?

C) What's the point of ripping a CD if I cannot use the files as I wish?

I transfer games all the time on my xbox just because it can be faster since I run 2 xboxes in the house all the time. You only have to be logged into the xbox that your transfering to. Both consoles need to be on. It doesn't matter if it is wifi or wired
connection. It's a network transfer so it uses you network through your router to transfer the games or app. Here is the catch, it will only transfer the core of the game. Any update or DLC for the game must be downloaded separately. If your console is trying
to download the updates before the transfer then it will cause issues. You might need to clear the cache on your old xbox by unplugging it from power for 10 seconds then performing a power cycle on it. Another options is to perform a reset on the old xbox
and choose to keep games and apps then after that try the network transfer. Last option? Just download them to your new xbox x. Depending on internet speed it might be just as fast.

Though to complicate things further, the Xbox One DOES show up when I go to "Media Streaming options" under Network and Sharing Center and show devices on Local network... it is set to "Allowed". But it only shows up in the one screen, and not from the devices
manager or as a "Play To" option.
