Why does Xbox gamertag use a non-spaced profanity look up

When I try and change my name to
    Scunthorp
I get an error saying that I can't use that name. Despite Gamertag giving the suffix number options for even the most common names like Tim.

Can it be made that if there's a profanity in the name it is discarded when surrounded in a word? Seems weird to me that it was implemented in this way.

    :)

Why does Xbox gamertag use a non-spaced profanity look up

This is one of those alltime classics, it happened on the 360 when anyone tried to sign up from scunthorpe and some other places that breach Disney, sorry Microsofts terms they found they could not actually get an account, this was changed but then found
they were getting banned for having it in their bio or not able to display where they live.

It is about time Microsoft update things instead of discriminating against people where the town or village they live in has a certain spelling in the name.

    Gamertag not allowed?

The gamertag may be flagged for profanity. Even if you use spaces and numbers it could still flag it as inappropriate.

    Unable to change my Gamertag

If the system says the gamertag is in use, then it is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The gamertag system is used on other services, not just Xbox. Also, the system does not see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So if you're looking
one up as "gamertag" it may not show anything, but it could still be in use as "gamer tag".

Trying to change my Xbox LIVE Gamertag: Account does not Exist?

No. A gamertag with spaces DOES count.. I have no idea where you got that from, but it's wrong. Spaces do count.

The Supervisor told me the gamertag is technically available, but it's still stuck in the non-availability section.

    Gamertag "Rastal" not allowed

It's already in use here The gamertag system does not see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So while you might look up "gamertag" it may actually be in
    use as "gamer tag"
