Why does Wireless Display run so incredibly poorly on my Xbox Series X?

For the past few days now I have been trying my hardest to project the screen from my laptop to my Xbox Series X so I can watch movies more conveniently, but the Wireless Display app is projecting it absolutely horribly.

Basically every issue you could think of is happening. I will list them: There's intense artifacting, any changes take forever to show, it's super laggy, sometimes it even takes ages to connect in the first place, and so on. It's ridiculously bad.

I remember using Wireless Display before and it ran just fine aside from latency issues, but that's to be expected. I really don't understand why it's barely able to function now. It's genuinely completely unusable in the state it's in.

If you need specific details to help me, here are some I think may be useful to know: Both devices run off the same network, the network runs at 5ghz, the console is an Xbox Series X, the laptop is an Acer Nitro 5 running on Windows 10.

Feel free to ask any additional questions if necessary and thank you for your help.

    :)

you're doing everything the hard way,

just put the movies on your USB drive and plug it into the Xbox, or use casting.

virtually all major video platforms support casting

Red Dead Redemption 2 bad graphics

    Hi,

Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox was only optimised for Xbox One X it hasn't been optimised for the Series S or X hardware. On the Series S it runs in Xbox One Backwards compatibility mode. As such, it runs at around 900P (around 1600x900). This means it will look quite soft looking on a 4K display, although it should not affect the colours or the contrast.

Unfortunately, RDR2 is not great on the Series S, especially on a 4K display. FIFA 23 is Series S|X optimised, which is why this game looks a lot better.

    XBOX remote play video quality

    Hi,

Xbox game streaming is currently limited to 1080P. This means it will look no different on the Series X|S to what it does on the original Xbox One or when running via a device with a 4K display.

Unable to project PC to Xbox series x using wireless display

    Hello George C.

I have tested the above and had no luck. The closet I get is I connect both PC and Xbox Series X to the same WIFI (with both network cables unplugged) and I can see the XBOX as a wireless display to cast my PC. however, it attempts to connect, and the screen blinks and immediately says disconnected.

I have now been able to connect to the XBOX with my laptop, but still not able to connect through my PC.

My PC is showing as a wireless display capable device in the Drivers command "Wireless Display Supported: Yes (Graphics Driver: Yes, Wi-Fi Driver: Yes)"

I have further uninstalled Norton antivirus from my PC and reverted to windows antivirus.

surely I cannot be the only one with this issue?

I see that this post has the same issue, but the thread is now locked
