why does the xbox one x get so hot sound goes out on sound bar

Hello, there may be an issue with your console, as the fan should prevent the console from reaching too high of heats.

Is your console in an open area where it can receive proper airflow?

are you giving you xbox one x room to breathe if it has room for ventilation you might be having a tech issue.

it's not normal to do that friend check that if you properly have an area for air flow and continue to sound, possibly a fan got out of its axis

Found this:

1. Update firmwares for TV, XB1S & Sound bar.
   
2. XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) goes to Sound bar HDMI IN. (DOES NOT GO TO TV)
   
3. Sound bar HDMI ARC OUT goes to TV HDMI ARC.
   
4. TV AUDIO set to PCM. TV VIDEO set to ARC.
   
5. Sound bar audio set to HDMI IN. (NOT HDMI ARC)
   
6. XB1S Video set to 4K UHD.
   
7. XB1S Audio set to ATMOS.
   

*Most importantly, XB1S HDMI OUT (to TV) DOES NOT GO TO TV, BUT GOES TO Sound bar IN! XB1S HDMI IN Should NOT BE USED!

If you have a 4K TV I would connect the Xbox One X HDMI to the TV. Then connect the optical out of the Xbox One X to your sound bar. That way you won't have to worry about degrading your video quality. Most sound bars don't have 4K passthrough.
