Why Does The One Only Have A 350GB Hard Drive?

They knew that 150GB would be needed for the OS.

They knew that Next Gen games would be clocking 20 - 40GB in size.

At 350GB my One HD only has 30GB more space than my 360 (GOW 320GB edition).

I know we've been told that we can install external HD's but at £80 - £120 for a 3 - 4TB external drive console maintenance costs are soaring.

I'm glad I can add the extra storage space but knowing what they knew about the OS and game size how could a 350GB HD ever have been considered "Fit for purpose"?

i have a 360 s 4GB (added 350GB hard drive) just over 2yrs old. CD drive does NOT work.

A 350gb hard drive doesn`t sound official.

Only an official hard drive has the built in hardware/software to make original xbox games playable on the 360.

 

To get you to buy more hard drive space.

 

Xbox One has a 500GB hard drive.

 

When you say that you expect to have that much space.

In practice you've only got 350GB.

It's simply not enough and MS knew better.

I have to agree you can't call it a 350g hdd. It s 500g. All devices list the hdd space before the os is taken off.

 

I giggled at "console maintenance costs are soaring"...... no one is required to buy the external HD and I really don't know who would ever require one. I have 8 games installed right now (TR, PvZ, Ghosts,Peggle, COL, Forza, Watch Dogs, Powerstar Golf)
plus Netflix, etc.... 37.8% used.

 

I have 13 games plus bunch app. I only used 42.9% my defult HDD. But I plan to get 4TB HDD for added spaces.

 

@Dark..... space for what? You have over half the factory storage left available.

Why isn't it? It provides more than enough storage for several games.

That's
your problem, not MS's. The listed capacity is the capacity of the drive, same as if one bought a phone or a PC or a tablet. Rarely does one have access to all the space on a device. Rarely does a device report the same space available as listed on advertising
due to differences in units.

 

The free space giving defulit. Right now have 208GB unused spaces.

 

You never get 100% of a hard drive. Never. Doesn't matter where you go. There's always a bit of space reserved for OS.

 

Why did they put in a 500GB internal, non-removable HDD? To save money.
