Why does one need Xbox Live Gold to play a Beta?

I don't know if Microsoft know this, but Xbox is a joke in the gaming world, and i just left it myself. No games i can't get on PC with no service to play online. Xbox needs to be sold to google. Just look at how bad Windows 10 is, You can see every update
trying to limit the user just like a console.

It took 2 Xbox Live agents to back to directly state, " You need EA Access to play the Open Beta of Battlefield 5" A quick search on Google Chrome (They must have been using MS Edge) gave the same thing i was telling them, They both even got mad that i kept
saying "no" "no" after they would state false info.

It took 2 mins to understand that Microsoft only let a user download the open better files, only if they have Xbox Live gold, Cost me $2 just sign up for a month that i already share gold with a friend. Just bad to act like this to gamers. I'm done after this
month for good with Xbox.

Please Microsoft, sell Xbox to Google, They might do something good to the brand.

Ok why does when your live gold runs out an you wanna play something different it says you are gonna need gold to play that game???

Most online multiplayer features of games require Xbox Live Gold and this has been the
case for the best part of the last 10 years. If you want to play Battlefield V beta early from the 4th onwards you need EA access or to have pre-ordered the game. It is otherwise playable from the 6th onward.

The online multiplayer is a feature limited only for Xbox Live Gold user on Xbox Consoles. If you are playing on PC you don't need gold at all for online multiplayer.

Please note that Free Xbox Live trials are often included with new consoles and will allow you to play online.

Unfortunately with how things are setup, anything involving online play requires Gold. I agree that for something like beta this really shouldnt be the case. I would suggest reaching out to MS directly to voice your feedback on this matter.

 

The games need Xbox Live Gold to play online, even games Free To Play

 

I can only assume that this post is trying to do nothing except for Troll based on several statements. The bottom line is if you want to play games online it will require Xbox live gold on your account.

 

They need to change that. It’d be nice to be able to play Free to Play games without gold just like you can on other consoles.

 

I personally wouldn't change anything. The money paid in live helps keep the network solid, frequent improvements/updates to the console system and much more.
