Why does my xbox start up with a black screen?

I would like to let you know that here in the forums, no one is able to provide assistance if a self-repair / self-modification was made to an Xbox console.

This is against the community guidelines and Microsoft terms and conditions.

It's just because the video file that plays in order to give you the boot up screen is missing from the offline update. The next time you do a regular online update of the console, it should be replaced.

The last update was released on June 14th and there is typically 1 per month, so we may see a new update fairly soon.

my Xbox wont le me get past the grey loading screen. and when i disconnect the wifi and start the xbox back up, it does the splash logo and freezes on a black screen

He is what happened. I put Black OPS into my 360. Started up like it always does. Before it got to the screen to select "Campaign, Multiplayer" I got the "Disconnected from Xbox Live". Then the download screen came up and said "Please wait while update is
applied"

After which Black OPS goes directly to the multiplayer screen. Now if I try playing Black OPS or go back to the Dashboard. I get disconnected from Xbox Live.

That would stop the game from entering the start up menus? - Campaign, multiplayer, my soldier, options etc The screen just goes black and does nothing
