Why does my Xbox One keep turning itself back on?

Ok, I wanted to be sure but now Im pretty confident that I have sorted out the problem

It was the eject button

My daughter pointed out a whirring noise when it came on and I realised it was the disk eject. Tapping the button switches on the xbox so I cleaned it with the cloth from my glasses and in the gap around it with a small paintbrush.

So far its not turned itself back on for 2 weeks

So, theres a solution to add to the list of fixes

Im not in the Xbox insider program... at least I dont think so but the one thing I have noticed about the problem is it is not happening as much as it did before.

As you mentioned that you dont send out updates, would it be possible to present the idea to the team that does the updates to look at the programming and see if there has been an earlier update that may be in conflict.

Fingers crossed they can find the problem

Interesting thing has happened. Before I got chance to sort out the Xbox one for repair, I installed the system update and forgot to unplug my xbox

That was 2 days ago

It hasnt turned itself back on...yet

I will keep an eye on it but I think the latest update fixed it

If it has and it was intentional then thank you very much

If it was just a happy little accident then thank you anyway

Well, Ive tried the factory reset and its still playing up. I tried to register it for repair and the form refuses to recognise my phone number. It says Invalid phone number (Ive had my number for years so I know it exists

What format does it take the UK mobile phone numbers starting 07?

That's kind of why I was checking to see if you were in the preview program. It's possible there is some sort of hardware issue with the console still, it's just not happening as often. If there was an issue with the software, the factory reset while keeping
games and apps, could resolve that. However, the issue could be with the hardware button, or the touch panel over it.

As a last ditch effort, would it be possible to try another outlet in the house? Also, try to move the console to energy saving mode, if it's not already.
