Why Does My Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller Keep Needing to be Updated (Windows 11)

I have an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller on my pc and when I go into the Xbox Accessories app it tells me to update it.

After I update it shows me that the controller is updated.

Once I click "Next" it brings me back to the first page where it tell me "Update required". I have been trying to fix this problem for over a week now and have had no success. When I think I find a solution it just loops me back to where I started.

I am up to date with all Windows updates and optional updates but still have this problem.

I have deleted and redownloaded the Xbox Accessories app, I have repaired and restored the Xbox Accessories app in settings, I have reverted my controller and tried updating it again but nothing works. I have used every troubleshooting steps other forum answers have provided but none of them work.

I shouldn't have to dig around the internet for over 1 week just to update my $180 controller, because right now it feels like I have just overpaid for a heavier Xbox controller. I have paid $180 for a premium controller that I cannot even use the paddles on. I have spent too many hours to trying to solve this issue, that now this controller seems like more of an expensive hassle than it is a premium product.

Please solve this issue and end my headache.

We understand your sentiments about your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller keeps on asking to be updated even though its already updated. We replicated this issue in one of our Xbox Controller and was able to process the update in Xbox Accessories App without any issues.

We noticed that you're a member of the Windows Insider Program, as we all know Windows Insider Program serves as a Windows testing ground and very prone to errors. We're afraid that this is one of those errors in the current Windows Insider version.

the elite controller series 2 has Bluetooth compatibility and is therefore compatible with windows 10 too. the first release of the elite controller was before xbox was integrated into windows 10, therefore there was no need at the time for Bluetooth.

Xbox elite series 1 doesn't.have bluetooth which came out after the first.gen xbox one controllers

The series.2 and.later xbox controllers have. Bluetooth

If I may ask, does the disconnection still happen if you have connected your controller using a USB cable?

If yes, kindly try to update the controller's firmware using Windows PC to see if it works according to the official Xbox website: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/update-xbox-wireless-controller
