    I have owned these Ubisoft games for at least a year and have played online with friends without any issues, but now when I launch them and go to start an online game it brings up the game pass options and says I need to buy it before being able to play online. Nobody else I know is having this issue.

    That’s not true because up until August 10th which is the most recent time I played trivial pursuit specifically and I never needed Xbox live gold or anything to play any of my games online.

    Gold is required to play online. So you would either need Gold or Game Pass Ultimate (which includes Gold) in order to play online.

    That's been true for many, many years. If you were able to play without a subscription on your own account, then someone else may have had your console set as their Home account which would have allowed you to access their subscription.
