Why does my Kinect randomly power down?

    Why does my Kinect randomly power down?


    There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, my Kinect will lose power. Sometimes all of the lights, sometimes only the infrared. Does this happen because Microsoft changed the software to deemphasize the Kinect?

    My XboX power button noise.

    My xbox 360 likes to make the power button noise randomly if its on or off it will randomly make the power button noise why is this?

    I have no idea,but mine has the EXACT same problems. I don't know why it is doing that, but does your xbox turn off randomly? When my does I think the power supply over heats.

    Why does my Kinect randomly power down?

    Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

    Also I forgot I sometimes have the issue of my Kinect not powering on at all. I have to do a hard restart and unplug it and then replug it in once I've got the system running again. This happens quite randomly when it does.

    Hey Steven and Tarzuk,

    I have a similar problem with my original xbox one randomly either shutting down, or quitting to home screen during gameplay. It is extremely frustrating. I've done the hard restart, soft and hard factory reset, got a new power supply box/cable. None of
    it works.

    Is there anything else to try?

    Hey Tarzuk,

    Thanks for keeping us updated. The power cycle that XFlaKoz recommended does not remove any data from the console. The support article that XBF Steven provided regarding

    the factory reset     explains how to get to the setting using your Xbox One X. Be sure to let us know the results!
