Why does my gamertag change when I sign in on switch?

I was told to post my problem here by the Xbox Chat support. Well my Gamertag has changed suddenly. I'm not sure why since i've had the same gamertag for over 5 years. When I signed into my account I got an error message telling me to redownload my account
so I did. When I signed into my account my Gamertag changed from CallMeDaddyBoy to . All I want is to able to get my old Gamertag back. I don't understand why Xbox would change it.

Hey mate, so when you sign-in to the console, what is the email that is displayed in the top left corner? Don't post what it is, but just ensure that is the email address that you have switched the gamertag to. If it is the old email address I would say
that the change wasn't done correctly.

Hi, when you sign into the xbox change the email on the gamertag that comes up then hopefully when you recover your account again using the same email the second gamertag should show up.
