Why does my disc keep cancelling installation

My Grand theft auto v disc continues to show a "installation stopped" message after a few minutes. When I resume, it continues installing making zero progress and then repeats the message, this has continued for a while now. Any thoughts? (Note: I've tried going offline and clearing local save data)

If you've previously installed the game, you can insert the disc then install it using Xbox store or Xbox app. Just make sure that remote features are already enabled. Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features. Check the box to enable remote features and for Power options, select Sleep mode. sounds like there could be a scratch on the disc stopping it from installing. is there any way you could get another copy of the game and see if it work? have u tried any other disc games to see if they install okay?

Do you have any issues with other disc-based games?

Do you notice any scratches on the COD disc?

Another thing you can try is to search for the game using the Xbox app on mobile, then install it from there. That will download the game to your console, but obviously you need a license to play it. The disc acts as a license, so even if it is scratched and won't install from the disc itself, if the console is able to read enough of the disc to confirm that you own it, you'll be good to go.

If it won't launch no matter what, after trying what I suggested in the previous paragraph, then either the disc has a bad scratch on it that prevents the console from properly reading it, or your console's optical drive is not functioning correctly.

Is it actually cancelling the installation or does it just say "installation stopped"? I ask as sometimes Xbox One consoles have issues with some discs....I spent a week installing Forza Horizon 2 from disc on my One X as the install kept stopping after a couple of minutes and I would have to manually resume it

It doesn't install both versions so why does it matter? It's not like if you buy TMCC on disc and digital it automatically installs 130 GB , so why does it matter? Plus less wear and tear on the disc player.
