Why does my audio bug out

Im on old gen, xbox one s. I will be getting new gen in a couple months. But something recently has really annoyed me, this only happens in fortnite. When i am talking to a friend in a party while playing fortnite, if someone starts shooting, or any loud noise happens, all of my audio bugs out, like i cant hear the game or my friend, please help.
