I know that there is a long method of making a game backwards compatible. However, it is weird that they are allowing less popular games to be put on the list and not more popular ones like Sonic Generations and Final Fantasy XIII. Since there are already
a few Sonic games on the list, Microsoft already has the license for these games, and Final Fantasy is also a popular game series. Why haven't they done this yet?

    BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY LIMITED LIST

After reviewing the current backwards compatibility list, I see some games that I am interested in, but why such a limited list.

What about the following games that I know are popular:

    FORZA 2

    FORZA 3

    FORZA 4

    SPLINTER CELL BLACKLIST

    F1 2010- F1 2014

    DOOM

    MASS EFFECT

If anyone has a list of games they would like to see on the backwards compatibility list, mention it here

  3. Xbox One backwards compatibility

    ..........

Hello "UndatedDread411" Why does Microsoft not promote more popular games by putting them on the backwards ... :)

    .........

There are too many Xbox 360 games to add to the Backwards Compatibility and add the fact that it cost money for Microsoft to add games to Backwards Compatibility.

    .........

In the long run, the only way that the Xbox One's Backwards Compatibility will replace the Xbox 360 is if all of its games are Backwards Compatible, a feat that could be done but most likely won't happend.

    ..........

My guess is that Microsoft will mostly focus on the popular titles with a sprinkle of not so popular titles every now and then.

    ..........

Have a nicd day or afternoon or night "UndatedDread411" Why does Microsoft not promote more popular games by putting them on the backwards ... :)

Microsoft can't make a game backwards compatible unless the developer gives permission.

So it's not like they don't want to, sometimes they just can't Why does Microsoft not promote more popular games by putting them on the backwards ... :(

    1. Microsoft requires permission from the publisher before making a game backwards compatible.

1a. Publishers are likely to decline when they have already released, or plan to release, Xbox One versions of their games.

1b. There may be complications when trying to renew various licenses for game content.

    2. Microsoft has to actually make a backwards compatible version of each game and then test it.

2a. It's probably much easier to make small and simple games, like Arcade games, backwards compatible.

2b. Some games probably don't work very well on the Xbox One yet, and Microsoft needs time to work out the kinks with its 360 emulator.

2c. The first collection of games that were made backwards compatible were probably just chosen for either convenience (Microsoft was the publisher and there were few issues with renewing licenses) or because Microsoft wanted a wide range of different types
of games to test the emulator with.

I suspect that Microsoft is getting rather frustrated with the slow pace of making games backwards compatible. I suspect they've either tried, or have at least started the process of, bringing all the most popular 360 games to the Xbox One, but that various
complications, either technical or legal, are holding things up. In the beginning, they were rather optimistically listing "upcoming games" on the website, but that list has seen no change in a long time, and meanwhile other games that were not on the list
have become backwards compatible instead. My guess is that the process has been a whole lot less predictable than Microsoft expected, and so now they don't want to reveal what games they're working on so people don't get upset with delays.

  6. I know that they have to get permission from the company that makes the games, but it still is weird that they haven't thought about putting an RPG game like Final Fantasy XIII on the list. How long does it take to get permission from the companies to add
    games?

yep. you can also post or vote to help your favorite xbox 360 games climb the ranks and be put on the fast track for backwards compatibility. I have no idea why the site isn't more widely promoted.

    Tenchu: Return From Darkness

Only some of the more popular original xbox games were made backwards compatible & most of them were quite buggy when played on the 360.

Despite it's fairly short lifespan there were a lot of games on the old xbox, probably would of taken to much time & money to make them all backwards compatible.
