Why does it feel Xbox One is a step backwards from Xbox 360 when it comes to Xbox Live?

I have had an Xbox One console since just before Xmas 2015 and my experience to date has left me with the feeling that Xbox One is a step backwards from Xbox 360 when it comes to Xbox Live services. Also the amount of times I have to "reboot" my Xbox One
to get it working makes me wonder if it was indeed rushed into production. I purposely delayed getting one for that very reason hoping the platform would have matured a little by now so if I feel like this now I wonder how crap it was on day one!

Media Player Unavailable?

I am having the exact same issue. Uninstalled Media Player and now it's unavailable... Very frustrating. Why does Xbox One Media Player feel like a huge step back from Xbox 360 Media Player?

You're not wrong. I don't remember people getting dropped from party chat this often on 360, and I certainly don't remember Xbox live services going down every other week. They're real quick on making sure they take our money the second it's due or turning
off our gold access, but when it's time to fix their *** so we can actually use the service we pay for apparently it's just fine when it takes all day or longer.

just spoken to Xbox UK as to the latest installment of it not working, so far 13 hours (at time of typing), and there seems to be a lack of communication between the different factors that work in/for Microsoft. The customer service doesn't know a thing,
the engineers are not forth coming with info. we are paying for a service that we are not receving, in any other walk of life there is normally something offered to help the customer/client through the trouble, but not here.

No it won't be coming to an end in 2016. I don't know where you've got that information from, but its false. In any case, with Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, and the ability to play these games on Xbox Live via an Xbox One, I'm pretty sure Live for
360 is safe for many more years to come.

this is where I ready about the backwards Gears games. Would explain why I got Gears 3 as I never owned a digital copy on 360 only Arcade store games. But doesn't explain why I have not received the others so clearly issues with xbox.
