    Why does canceling a game update on XB1 deletes the entire 42.8Gb game?


    Bungie released a new update today for Destiny 2. The console began the download, but I needed to switch networks, so I "Canceled" the update. This, to my shock, deleted the entire game. Why would it do that without a huge-huge warning?

    Anyone have any suggestions? Thx.

    Game deleted itself

    canceling an update will delete the full game.

    That's just how it works.

    Your game should not uninstall because you canceled an update. Canceling an update simply stops the update installation process. It does not delete anything whatsoever.

    The updates for the game are manged and controlled by Bungie. They may not allow you to play the game if you decline the update. I can't imagine that it would delete the game, maybe just disable it until you take the game update.

    I posted this problem in Bungie's help forum. Bungie says it's an XBL user interface problem.

    Do you have an external hard drive connected to the Xbox with the game on it?

    Are you able to download / install the game and update it?

    you don't want him to cancel the update in anyway, if he does that the game will be deleted and he will have to redownload the entire game again.
