    Why does a certain word block my desired gamertag choice


    I have been streaming as The Beer Fridge for a few years now playing xbox games on Twitch. After many years of people asking why I didn't change my gamertag to match my stream I finally decided to do it. On Twitch I am The Beer Fridge, where I play games
    and review craft beer. Nothing crazy, or toxic or inappropriate. I went to change my gamertag to "BeerFridge" and it won't let me. I tried different variations of it but it always blocks the word beer, like it isn't allowed. There was a guy I knew that had
    the gamertag "assxplosion", but beer is blocked? I know i can do some unfortunate work arounds like B33RFridge, but it just seems silly and unfortunate. Xbox support isn't answering my inquiries about it. Has anyone else delt with something like this and is
    there a way that I can get the gamertag that I want. It shows as available just doesn't allow it when I type it in.

    There is no way to request a gamertag. If the person who owns the tag does not sign into the account (starting last year) it will be released. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services, so even if it's not being used as an Xbox tag, it could be

    Why dont they just add this to parental controls? Parents can go and set it up to automatically block certain words on their childs acconts and also notify them when their child uses the blocked words in their messages.

    The gamertag system is only being managed by their system alone. There are just word combinations that are not allowed or filtered. We’re not certain why some words or word combinations are blocked but it could be possible that it may sound bad/offensive in other language or culture.

    The gamertag word filter at sign-up can only block so many gamertag choices. That's why
    this part of the system exists. At some point, numerous user reports on your account about your gamertag eventually caused a forced gamertag change.

    A forced gamertag change no longer lets you change your gamertag for free, due to abuse in the past.

    Your only available options are to either pay to make a new one, or just stick with the automatically generated one they just gave you.

    There are a lot of terms like this out there. For example, a certain 3 letter derogatory word denoting a person's sexual desires really means a bundle of sticks or cigarette.
