Why do you like the Borderlands games?

I've finished 2 and found it boring, spent several hours on 1 and liked it more. With that in mind I just stopped playing it and may or may not go back to the ps3 version or xb1 bc. I'm fine with the cel shading and the game play however I did come out of
finishing Fallout 3 and then played BL, this was a bad decision. I know they're not the same games but moving on from fo3 makes BL quite boring imo.

I am really surprised though in that you have never played them. They are Developed by Gear Box the creators of Aliens Colonial Marines (and we know you like that Game). Gear Box was reportedly taking money from Sega that was meant for the Development of Aliens:CM
and using that to Develop Borderlands 2. If you didn't know anything about this scandal I would highly recommend you look up information in regards.

But On Topic in regards to Borderlands, I do not like Borderlands. I actually find them to very, very, very, very boring Games. I played the first at request of Friends and found when playing in Co-op it was okay but only tolerable. When playing solo it felt
as if it was an utter chore. Nothing in the Game gives any sense of reward and it is a perpetual slog of endless grinding for stuff worst then what you currently have most of the time. The Missions (if even called that) are nothing more then short errand-boy
task of run here, kill that, repeat.

I swore to myself that I would not get Borderlands 2 but I did the silly and very regrettable thing in that I was talked into getting for my Friends so they could play Co-op. Well that worked out for about 4 hours and I haven't touched it it since.

Ultimately since the failure of Aliens:CM, Randy Pitchford the never ending liar and the very boring Borderlands Games I have sworn off Gear Box. I will not buy any future Gear Box Titles even if they are heralded as the second coming.

 

Borderlands 1 was a superb game imo

 

While it's true that many (translation: a multitude) have lost faith in Gearbox's output, thanks in large part to the Aliens CM debacle, I'd hardly write them off. At risk of invoking wrath from (a multitude) more, I was a *huge* fan of the eternal stinker,
Duke Nukem Forever.

Why? Because despite the somewhat unfinished, unwieldy, anachronistic nature of the game, it at least brought fans some closure... no mean feat considering the 15 YEARS it spent in development hell. And while many - okay, a multitude - might argue that DNF
should *never* have seen the light of day, it still leaves room for a new-gen revival of the franchise, should Gearbox ever be trusted again.

 

DNF was an abomination....Duke was great back in the day, but that's where he should stay in my opinion.

Upon digging further on the comment earlier, I have to say that I am so mad / angry at Gearbox right now!

Borderlands 2 is the reason that Aliens Colonial Marines is such an unfinished, unpolished, and much hated game by the community!

Sega paid Gearbox to make Aliens Colonial Marines.

Gearbox didn't care about making Aliens Colonial Marines.

Gearbox was too focused on making Borderlands 2.

Gearbox out sourced Aliens Colonial Marines to other developers.

There is a reason that Sega gave Gearbox the money to make Aliens Colonial Marines, not the other developers.

Gearbox barely worked on Aliens Colonial Marines.

Gearbox panicked because Gearbox ignored Aliens Colonial Marines for so long that by the time that Gearbox got Aliens Colonial Marines back (Borderlands 2 was almost finished), Gearbox only had 1 year left to work on it.

Furthermore, Gearbox had to take some of its own money to finish the game because Gearbox used the money that was supposed to be used for Aliens Colonial Marines for Borderlands 2 instead.

So, Aliens Colonial Marines was under-developed (time wise) by Gearbox and under-funded (because Gearbox used the money that was left to out source Aliens Colonial Marines to fund Borderlands 2).

Aliens Colonial Marines is now one of the most hated and despised games of all time.

Why did you do this Gearbox?

Why didn't you just give Aliens Colonial Marines to a developer that was focused on making it?

You guys kept Aliens Colonial Marines knowing while working on Borderlands 2, you should have cancled Aliens Colonial Marines since you had such a difficult time to make it because you (Gearbox) were so busy working on Borderlands 2.

I don't know what else to say to you Gearbox...

You (Gearbox) should have cancled Aliens Colonial Marines.

You (Gearbox) should have given Sega back their money and told them (Sega) this

<--> We're sorry, we're too busy working on our own IP (Borderlands 2) to make Aliens Colonial Marines.

In conclusion, I am NEVER EVER going to play any of the Borderland games because Gearbox didn't admit that they (Gearbox) weren't able to make Aliens Colonial Marines the game that it could have been.

You should have given up on making Aliens Colonial Marines knowing that it was too much for you (Gearbox) to handle at that time.

Why didn't you do the right thing?

Colonial marines was always destined for failure. You simply cannot create that same atmosphere of the first or second Alien movies within a game imo. Sound effects of the pulse rifle were alright. the rest was utter tripe. a game that should never have
seen the light of day (along with Duke Nukem Forever)

 

Question to Lei Fang: According to recent posts, it appears that you *liked* Aliens CM? Knowing what you do now, does this alter your opinion of the game you played? Does it detract from *your* enjoyment? People hated on Duke too, but I liked it. In fact,
I bought the Collector's Edition because I needed the DNF decal for my storage cabinet. I also LOVED the artbook.

In an ideal world, Aliens CM should've been a better game, and Gearbox should've known better, but at the end of the day SEGA also paid Creative Assembly to craft a SUPERIOR Alien game (ie, Alien Isolation), and most of us have moved on. Time is the proverbial
healer, so here's hoping.

 

So you wont play Borderlands because of some nonsense between a couple of games companies?

I doubt that Aliens:CM was ever going to be that great whoever made it as it was in development for years.

The only person who will lose out is you by denying yourself the experience of playing one of the better game franchises out there.

Sorry Lei but you are often on here moaning about the lack of games that interest you then when a game comes highly recommended by the community you refuse to play it for the dumbest reason

I do agree that it would have been difficult to re-create the atmosphere / feeling of dread in Alien and Aliens.

But seriously, Aliens Colonial Marines would have been much better than the unpolished unfinished game that was released if Gearbox actually focused on making it (Aliens Colonial Marines) instead of focusing on Borderlands 2.

I hate, despise, loathe, and abhor Alien Isoloation...

but, I now (with this new found information) have a new found thankfulness and appreciation for Alien Isolation know that Gearbox destroyed Aliens Colonial Marines instead of giving the game a fighting chance to be successful.

Thank you Creative Assembly for making Alien Isolation such a masterpiece of a game.

I'm still not going to play Alien Isolation, but I do have good news Creative Assembly

I'm downgrading my opinion of Alien Isolation (from " I hate, despise, loathe, and abhor Alien Isoloation ") to a mild and calm " I don't like it "

In regards to Aliens Colonial Marines, I love and cherish Aliens Colonial Marines much much much more that I did originally now.

I would rather gearbox focused on Borderlands 2 as the first game was absolutely superb. In all, im happy with them focusing on B2 rather than the s**tshow that was Aliens CM

 

OP. Companies will always stab one another as well as consumers in the back. Rockstar for example. Just how the world is programmed.

I like BL but wish community created maps etc was availabe for consoles like they are for PC. - Gamers are still creating newer things in BL even 7 years later, noting like that is happening on console games such as Halo etc. Which, to me. Makes BL a must
have...

Backpack spaces of 200, Bank spaces of 2,000 or more. If the console version would allow that I would be a truley content Vault Hunter, but they dont.
