Why do Xbox not ban duplicate Gamertags?

Recently I have been seeing a lot of duplicated Gamertags and can't work out why Xbox don't ban them.

If you don't know what I mean by this, people have been creating glitched accounts. So on Xbox, a Gamertag can only be taken once, they're unique. So, for example, the Gamertag 'Tom' and Gamertag 'T o m' cannot both be taken at the same time.

I found this on the Xbox forums that explains it well:

"Most of the time if you are seeing a message saying the GT you want is unavailable, it’s true. One thing to remember is that spaces and capitalization don’t make your GT unique. For example, “Major Nelson”, “MajorNelson”, and “MaJoRnElSoN” are all the same
GT. "

However, duplicate Gamertags do exist now because they were acquired with a glitch. So, for example, the Gamertag 'Operate' and 'O p e r a t e' both exist, that shouldn't be possible but it's because 'O p e r a t e' was created using a glitch.

If your ban is over a year old there is no way to appeal it on enforcement.xbox.com. The enforcement team does not use the forums. Please do not create duplicate threads. Thanks!

please do not create redundant duplicate threads posting duplicate threads pushes down those other users who need help too.

 

If you find some you feel is exploiting the system please use the tools on your console to report the user.

 

ar you sure they arent having like a special character you aren't seeing? Or a number instead of a letter like zero instead of an O

It's not a bug

You are allowed to be creative with your names like replacing letters it numbers

 

you can't use common phrases as a gamertag lol
