Why do we Pay for replacements?

Why do we the customer have to pay over $100 for Xbox to replace our faulty console? I never moved it or broke it. Their product is faulty and broken, but I have to pay for it? I already paid over $400 for the Xbox.

Game comapneys have to pay Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to have games on their systems.

PC is a open platform and this does not happen!

Different sides all take their share of the price of a video game on a console or on a PC, more so on Consoles as its "their hardware"...The PC world doesnt have that requirement...but then a console is cheaper then getting a PC or a Laptop to run modern
games like BF3 or Skyrim. And with online retailing, you can always find a deal on games, even the top tier ones so you can pay no more then its PC version anyway

 

You get a year warranty so you do not have to pay. You can also purchase an extended warranty.

How long did you have the console? Things do not last forever and they sometimes need to be replaced. Do car companies give you free cars when they need to be replaced?

 

Come live in New Zealand or Australia. These governments impose more powerful consumer legislative rights compared to the pain Americans put up with

 

Electrical items have a warranty which means you don't pay for a repair if something happens.

Once the warranty runs out then you have to pay for it to be repaired.This is nothing new,it's been like this for decades, & not something exclusive to Microsoft.

As mentioned,every country has it's own set of consumer laws so you can always look into that.

 

America is a gullible nation where corporations buy elected officials a steak dinner (bribe/lobby) and gets pretty much any law passed or opposed that they want. Right to repair for example, or consumer assurence 2 year manditory replacement policy on consumer
electronics.

Auto's have to meet or exceed QS 9000 Quality assurence standards before they are even shipped. What quality assurences does consoles have to meet before being shipped in from China?

The same as poisoned babies milk perhaps?

 

All consoles come with a standard manufacturer's warranty of one year from purchase date.

Additionally, options are available:

• More time is added on top of that if you purchased any
  extended warranty.
• You can exchange your console if you're still within your retailer's return period.
• Some credit cards provide their own replacement warranty (which usually runs alongside the console's warranty).
• Your country's consumer laws mandates more time.

Most faults can be repaired/replaced by Microsoft for free (or even at a discount) during the standard warranty period, if the issue falls within the

warranty terms.

Once it expires, you will likely be subject to paying full price for a repair or total replacement of the console.
