Why do we need a credit card to download free Xbox 360 games?

It's not just limiting many players but also plain annoying. Why does Xbox Live demand a credit card to be paired with an Xbox account in order to let us download even free Xbox 360 games? Many people can't download the Games With Gold titles because they
try to do it on either xbox.com or Xbox One. But the system doesn't let them because they don't have a credit card associated with their account. This is extremely bad practice because many people outside the U.S. simply don't have a card or don't want to
pair it with their account. This credit card requirement for 360 titles is both on xbox.com and Xbox One. You can only download games without a credit card on the Xbox 360 console which undermines the whole concept of backward compatibility. A lot of people
can't get their compatible free games because of this.

Please if you can escalate this complaint to Xbox Support in order to remove this requirement from the system, it would be great. I don't believe there's any viable reason to expect a credit card even for free games.

Why do we need credit card info for a free 360 game? infact, why do we need a credit card at all, i buy xbox money cards and i would purchase more back compatible games if i didnt need a credit card

I do not have a credit card attached to my account and can download free Xbox One games fine. If I try to download free Xbox 360 games, it says I need a payment option. I find it stupid that I need a credit card to download a free game. -_-

It's 0.00 not labelled as free unless you have a 360eani/ it requires a transaction

Also region verification you must have billing info matching your account region not take info but actual verifiable info due to the region requirements for xbox live

Xbox one maybe region free but a lot of games are region locked in 360

Fyi you do need a creditcard for xbox 360 games regardless if it's a free or paid gane or have a 360

As per the requirements of xbox live you must have a valid payment option on file for games with gold or any Web purchases

And yes xbox one counts as a Web purchases

 

Also you must be 18years of age to download m rated games with gold

So a creditcard should be easy to get for an adult

Kids wouldnt be able to download the triple a m rated titles unless they have an 360 as the one family settings don't apply to 360

 

Xbox Support cannot do anything to remove the requirement for needing a payment method to purchase GWG Xbox 360 games.

Paypal which works in many countries beside the US can be used as a payment method as well as a card.

be completely rewritten to support what some people want.

Not being happy with the rules or requirements doesn't mean that someone can just snap a finger and make it happen the way you think it should.

 

just use paypal as a payment option, you can use your parent credit card on paypal if under 18.

then if you live outside the US, you may run into trouble of downloading some free xbox 360 game because of region restriction.

The only way to bypass the method is to use official methods

Account region and actual regionuse match it's not rocket science and most likely will fail due to the unreliability of said methods your post is now flayed for the violation
