Why do we let them get away with this?

Guys, I'm sure many have complained about this before, but why must I download a game I just bought in order to play it? tonight I am especially frustrated at this because for the second tIke this week xboxlive DLC is down. I know they push updates and
patches for the games that are needes, but it's ridculous when I just purchased a brand new game and the brass at Microsoft forces me to download a game when I have the *** disc right here. Makes you want to root for all those hackers and pirates giving it
to the man. Screw you MS!!

PC's been doing it for years...

My major problem with a defense like this is it completely misses the point.

It's the defense of "PC Gamers have allowed themselves to get screwed so its OK for corporations to do it for console gamers as well".

Look I'm sorry that you allowed yourself to be bent over a table and robbed, but us console gamers aren't going to let that happen.

We will not let them take away our right to own the games we buy.

We will not let them take away our right to sell the games we buy.

We will not let them take away our right to trade-in the games we buy.

We will not let them take away our right to lend and borrow the games we buy.

We will not let them take away our right to rent games either.

We will not let them take away our right to play offline either.

Why won't we let them do this? Because Microsoft is giving us NOTHING in return. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

What have they given us to make up for loosing all of these rights?

If you are fine with being pro-corporate and anti-consumer that is your right. But the rest of us aren't going to let corporations take away any more of our rights.

Sorry, but gamers stick together, and we have already made our decision. The Xbox One is done.

This isn't social.injustice as everyone who breaks the rules is punished regardless who starts the fight

And no since you don't get feedback for.your reports you don't know if the others are getting suspended or not

Nor does it justify your actions

If you cannot play well with others why not set your contacts to friends only ends your problem until you can deal with others in a respectable manner

Because the more you break them rules the more punishments will occur and you could end up like the YouTube video emo kid who got banned on all consoles for his disability where he cant play well with others

You don't have to download a game you have on disc.

 

Or do you mean install from the disc to console? If that is what you meant the answer is simple, a blu-ray drive isn't capable of reading the data off the disc quick enough, it needs to install as it can read the data much quicker from the hard drive.

 

if you have the game on disc you don't have to download anything, you do however have to install the game (same on the ps4) the reason for the installation is that the bluray drives can't read the data on the disc fast enough, but it can read it quicker
from the hard drive hence the installation, when installing said games make sure your not connected to xbox live (it installs quicker)

 

Yes you do. Most games dont fit on the disc and a d/l is required

 

You mean install? Not sure why downloading would be required if you already have the physical disc?

there is only one game that has a file size bigger than a bluray disc's limit and thats halo, everything else is under 50GB you do have to install game updates but these are usually in the 500MB TO 1GB range.

 

Guys I just purchased dying light at best buy 6 hours ago and cannot play it because the Xbox one is saying it has to be installed via a download. It is hung up at 2%. I've tried to uninstall, restarted it countless times, even changed the region several
times. It will not install with out first connecting to live for some dam reason. The only thing different from this morning when I installed evolve for the first time is Xbox live DLC went down.

 

if you haven't already done so remove the game disc completely power down the system by holding the power button down for 5 or 6 seconds the console should turn off, if you have your xbox hardwired with an ethernet cable unplug it turn the console on make
sure your not connected to live and try to install again i suspect its trying the download an update while trying to install the game and cant proceed with the installation until it does that the work around is to disconnect from live then install the game

Okay. Just powered down the Xbox and unplugged it for 30 secs, disconnected the Ethernet cable, restarted it, inserted the game and it's at 71% and climbing. Thanks for your help. Kinda feel bad for bashing MS now...lol

I hope it works, but probably will not be able to play because I can't update it until DLC is back up.

 

lol no worries mate, if you have your console set as the home console, you should be able to play the game offline for now with out an update.

 

Nvm suck it MS. So I installed the game fine, started playing and reattached my Ethernet cable and it immediately locked up the game saying it needed an update. So I guess you can play techically play offline, but you better not ever connect to the net
or your *** will probably end up like mine.

 

Oh shut up and quit complaining about installing some tiny hotpatch, just install the update and go about your business.
