Why do we keep old mutiplayer servers for old games running

For example black ops two and one, the servers are full of modders who mod the game so bad it looks like a mall after Christmas, and its wierd the game is about 5 years old black ops 1 is older why don't we shut it down, they cause alot of trouble and
i know for a fact Microsoft despises modders and hackers down too the core, so, why not just pull the plug on them? *to mighty quinns response* thats odd its like if i kept a dead plant in my room, its needless

It's down to the people who own black ops. If they want to keep the servers running then they can.

People still enjoy those games and if publishers want to keep supporting, they should.

It just depends on how many people are still playing the game. They can't shut a game down that people are still playing and have paid money for. The game developers could potentially be sued for that.

When it comes to a game like Black Ops, then it would be up to the developers. The servers will stay up for as long as they want to support their game.

Despite the modding, personally I'd rather see the servers for games stay online for as long as possible. Who knows, maybe one day I'll want to play one of the older ones again.

plenty of people still play with friends so no reason to shut them down

modded lobbies and stuff like that is on the publisher
