    Why do updates just randomly happen when on Xbox?


    An ongoing issue that has never been fixed, due to Microsoft being so incompetent its a joke...

    Why do console updates just randomly happen to people at random, usually when in the middle of a game?

    From memory this happened during a pro tournament somewhere too

    For example, my console has just started updating while playing a game. The best part is that I am still in the multiplayer game, and talking to my friends in chat while its updating.

    How god damn stupid do you have to be to think this was a good idea?

    Just have a console search for updates when its starts up and make you update before playing online, just like the 360.

    Don't have my console in Instant On,just have "keep my games & console up to date" switched on in the settings & have never been kicked from a game for a console or game update.

    If it's a console update it'll do it when i turn the console off.

    I'm not sure about anyone else, but I have never had a game randomly update in the middle of playing it.

    Yes, sometimes games require an update before you can play it, but this is easily solved by selecting 'instant on' in the power settings. Then games and console update just happen overnight.

    I have never had to wait before playing a game... ever!

    Unlike people constantly getting this msg, I get it very randomly. (Happening once a week or so) and when it does happen it makes a slight grinding noise, followed by Error code 80820002. But then again, only really happening once a week or so.. What are
    anybody's thoughts on this? Should I go ahead and request a repair or should I just wait to see if it gets worse?

    From what people are saying the Aug 19th update causes the drive to fail completely, why is mine doing it randomly and not often?

    Oh the xbox app connected it randomly! The same thing happened to me when I couldent connect and it just appeared!
