Why do some Indies skip XBox?

As the title says, I am genuinely curious why a great many indie titles skip the xbox altogether when there is a HUGE fan base using the console that would enjoy those games. Right now I am thinking of Death's Gambit and Chasm specifically, and have even
wondered why Shenmue 3 appears as if it is going to skip as well.

I understand that in the East XBox traditionally hasnt performed nearly as well as in the West, but many of these Indies are developed in the West for Western audiences. If anyone has insight it would be greatly appreciated!

Indie Score..

i have tons of indie games and i was wondering like why not add a indie score somewere on your gamertag

like indie score you can earn by earning achievements in like indie games but it wont move up your gamerscore it will just movie up your indie score.

just a suggestion but do you like this idea?

@ goat, considering you've played minecraft you do enjoy indie games (an inferior port of the pc indie at that)

the XNA indies (formally called "community games") are a joke.

Good indies like warframe, don't starve, trine 2 ect on PS4 thrash the indie offerings on xbox 360 (cept for maybe the radiangames seris XNA games including CROSSFIRE and CROSSFIRE 2)

Most XNA indies are so terribad, I have no idea why people cannot simply put in the effort to fact check and do a little research to what indies actually are. The indies on ps4 are nothing like the shovelware XNA brings.

 

Shenmue is one of my all time favorite games. I do see that one and two are porting over later this month on Xbox. I would guess if those perform well they would bring three over bit who knows.

 

It could be an issue of finances.

I have asked the same question about why Destiny and Call of Duty give PS4 Exclusives, and the typical response is that Sony pays more to have those exclusives. With Indie games, I'm not certain it's the same, but it could be. Those companies might not think
they'll make enough money off of them on the Xbox market, so they don't bother.

There's so many reasons why it a title doesn't get launched on a specific platform. Many indie developers are open about discussing why. The most common answer I've seen is exclusive contracts that allow it only to be released on PC and a specific console,
usually for a limited amount of time. The other reasons are console licensing fees, development costs, interest/potential sales, etc. A lot of times reaching out to the developer via social media (eg. Twitter) they will provide information about if they
are working towards bringing a game to a specific console.

 

May I ask what you are talking about?

 

Just the fact that there have been quite a few indie titles that outright skip the XBox or come out at a way later date. Check out Kickstarter funded games and many have the XBox as a deep stretch goal whereas the PS4 and Switch are among the first.

 

I sure hope so because that would really be unfortunate to see the first two on the XBox and then the 3rd never make it over.

 

It helps if the community becomes more vocal, and reaches out to the developers about wanting their product on the Xbox platform.

 

The more games to play the better for everyone!
