Why do so many guys think that XBL is a dating service?

My wife and I play a lot of games together, right now its mostly Diablo 3. I have noticed that when we play with other people, whether its in a party or game chat, she gets hit on about 10 minutes in. Now, in all fairness, she does have the cutest accent.
She grew up in the Philippines but lived and worked in Dubai for about 5 years so her accent is very unique and adorable. It suits her very well because she is gorgeous. However, the constant flirting and questions about her physical appearance and marital
status has made her stay off of the headset all together. I do immediately set them straight but why can we not just play? Why do 90% of the guys that we encounter on XBL think that she is looking for a date? This isnt eHarmony. She didnt create a dating profile.
She isnt trying to hook up with some creep that thinks she has a sexy voice. Judging by the amount of pick up attempts that she has had to deal with, I think her situation is similar to many of the female gamers on XBL. Fellas, please stop thinking with your
reproductive organs and let these girls enjoy their experience as you would also like to do. Unsolicited flirtation is a HUGE turn off, whether she is looking for a man or not

Yeah he must be these type of guys who snipe with the tank using the veh optics sitting off at the edge of the map jerking off his K d R, while guys like me are trying to cap flags and make sh*t happen on the front lines.

And seriously XBL forums is no dating service to be posting pics of yourself, unless he's trying to impress you guys.Hhhmmm, I think I sense a "bromance" brewing.

 

Sorry too hear about your issues . I can only speak for myself .i know quite a few female gamers from the various communities I part of and u right there is this issue . But of the women i know tend too play with the same group of friends and i think this
is a good rule of thumb for most if us these days . I not saying that how it should be just what seems too work. But again this is only my view i sure others will have they own .

 

^^ This is good advice for those women and young ladies that are on alone. My wife is seldom on XBL without me and we pretty much play the same way that I would if I were playing alone. She gets everything from in game flirtation to friend requests accompanied
by dash PM's with phone numbers and dating inquiries. I have even had to deal with guys that want to fight me over her, without ever seeing me OR her. Would YOU want a woman that would leave her husband over someone she met playing a video game, sight unseen?
Apparently, they do and that stinks of desperation. I have come to the conclusion that many of these guys are total losers that will take whatever they can get, no matter how desperate they may seem while trying to obtain it. Some others have probably lost
a girl over their obsession with gaming and just want a girl that shares that interest. Regardless, there is a time and a place and just because your parts fit together, that doesnt mean that she is on here to find a man. Chances are, she is content or she
would be somewhere that allows her to see what she would be getting

 

No big surprise. I remember when I was in the military a friend of mine hit on every single girl he would meet, funniest is he made a date with a phone operator while trying to get a number. That didn't turn out good for him.

I remember a guy asked me if he could dance with my girlfriend I laughed and said "you can asks her anything she's gona say no."

It shouldn't even bother you.

 

I honestly have no idea why people attempt to use this system as a dating service. I guess it's the fact there are as many females who play games as males which is why they all freak out when a girl is present.

 

I'm sorry to hear about your issue I don't honestly know why guys would do that unless they think it's funny to hit on girls/women like that. The female gamers I've added or played with I respect their lifestyles,etc. and don't expect anyone to give them
crap, but you can't control what others do unfortunately therefore I try to give them a friendly experience while we play and hope that no one harasses them while in a online game.

 

panama400- it bothers me because it bothers her. I never gave it much thought until she pointed out the fact that she gets hit on every single time she plays while wearing a headset. I definitely know what you mean when you talk about guys asking to dance
with your girlfriend. My wife prefers me to be the one to handle situations like that because I can handle it in a way that wont turn into a shouting match. She will chastise them for being disrespectful of her marriage and saying things like "no wonder you
are single", which then causes them to say some VERY disrespectful things and I end up in jail for standing up for my wife who is never shy about speaking her mind. Im actually kinda curious as to what happened with your friend and the phone operator. Im guessing
she had a great voice but in person, she was a BEAST.

ColourTheory-I have noticed that guys act totally different when there is a girl in the party or game chat. In Diablo 3, they ALWAYS let the girl get all of the Legendary gear and some will actually sacrifice themselves to protect the girl, little perks
that my wife is all too happy to accept. In those situations, I feel that she brings it on to herself because these guys expect something in return for their generosity. Most guys are like this. Very few guys are nice just for the sake of being nice. Nearly
all of us have our own agenda when doing something nice for a woman. Im no different. She should know better.

SnakeEyez1981-I seriously believe that many of them do it out of desperation. Personally, I wouldnt want anything to do with a woman if I dont know what she looks like. I remember when I was a kid and 1-900 numbers were popular. The running joke was that
the girls on the other end were whales and men were paying a fortune to talk to these women based on how they sounded and what they SAID they looked like. I think that the majority of them just want a gf that is into gaming and meeting her on XBL is the only
sure fire way to get a gamer gf

I got too say yours is a extreme case and is it you both have this problem whilst playing this one game . Maybe time too change your game. Just a thought certain games get a certain crowd as it were . As i said most of the guys and girls i play with wouldn't
dream of behaving as such . I do hope you find some kind of solution as xbox and gaming should be fun and hassle free for all

 

Hello everyone

For me, its not that I'm looking to be mean / rude, but I just completely block everyone off who isn't on my friends list. Furthermore, I don't accept Random Friend Request at all (sorry). It is a lot easier for me this way because I'm really shy.

With that being said, I'm a 95% solo gamer & 5% multiplayer gamer (cooperative modes only, I hate PvP modes). Whenever that 5% (a.k.a me playing cooperative multiplayer with randoms) scenario happends, I simply just play one or two sessions & then just
leave.

Lei Fang- We didnt block everyone for the simple fact that we liked to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and needless to say, it bit us. I will say that what she has encountered on XBL is nearly as bad as it was when she played Diablo 3 on PC on her
Twitch channel and everybody could see what she looks like. There were some VERY inappropriate and non-game related things being said there. Diablo is more fun with more people and it provides a challenge because the enemies are much stronger when you have
more people. Our level 50+ characters have no problem when it is just the two of us, mowing down everything in our path. Not many of the people on our friends list play Diablo 3 so we kinda have to play with random people to get the type of game we enjoy.

MysticDarklight-Changing games is easier said than done, really. For me, its not an issue. I play about 30 different games. My wife is a Diablo junkie. She played the crap out of the first 2 on PC and the 3rd one on PC and Xbox. She loves that Medievel period,
fantasy type stuff. Have you ever tried to get the needle away from a heroin addict? Well, I havent done THAT but I assume it would be similar to getting my wife to stop playing Diablo.
