Why do my games center?

When playing any first person shooter, if i stand still my screen moves and centers? How do I turn this off?

Why do you game?

I am a gamer and a PhD student in psychology at the University of Cambridge, and I am studying the reasons people play games and the way games can affect mood and stress. I'm really lucky to be able to spend the next few years studying the psychology of
games and the future of virtual reality!

Is there a setting to turn it off within the games? That is usually a feature that is included in some, but not all, games.
