    Why do I need to connect tonXBOX live to play offline


    when I try to play a game it makes me connect to my microsoft account. I never play online and had to reset to remember what my account was. Why cam't I just go tonthe game?

    Disappointed about having to be connected to farcry4 server to play the game, off-line

    Similar problem. I only play in "offline" mode, but it can literally take hours to start a game because of "failure to connect to server".

    Why in hell does it need to connect to a server for OFFLINE mode? Do they know what OFFLINE means?

    No internet wtf

    so I moved into a new place don't have internet yet... so I decided to plug in a movie... cone to find out it needs internet to play a disc...... something I can hold in my hand ... wtf.... whatever I can't play the enormous stacks of dvds I have... so I
    plug in my hard drive.... same thing.... another error code... what in the hell... why can I do nothing offline...? I should be able to plug in and click play simple... I even turn my network settings to offline.. but it just tells me to connect to Xbox live...
    need help please

    to play online you need to have a (GOLD) in the xbox 360 and or the xbox 1

    Cannot play Halo Reach or other Xbox 360 games offline on Xbox One.

    Hey there steven4554316,

    It's possible the game needs an update before it can be played again, which is why it's asking you to connect to Xbox Live. Also do you have your console in Offline Mode? You can take your console offline by going to Settings and then Network Settings.

    EVERY ACCOUNT I MAKE HAS TO BE CONNECTED TO XBOX LIVE. WHY?

    That's not entirely true. What is true is that each account you set up does indeed need a Live Profile, however, you do not need Gold accounts to use these profile, nor do you need the console to be connected to Xbox Live to use these profiles or to play
    games.

    Once the profiles are set up, either leave the console as it is, or disconnect it from Xbox Live. All disc based games will work just fine offline. You do not need an active Xbox Live connection to play single player games.
