    Why do I have to pay $10 to change my name


    This has been an issue for over 10 years now. This is such an easy way to make money, and who knows, I'll probably change my name, and they know that. By making a fee that is not unreasonable, they know people will pay for it. The whole idea of "people changing their names all the time would be dumb" is not a good reason to con people out of $10. Server space cost is not an argument either, because unless the name is longer, the space taken up by the name will grow, and even then it would only be a couple bytes. You could easily make a limit for name changes instead of charging people real money to change a gamertag. Make a one-time change every 180 days or something ridiculous so that it discourages people from changing their names so much, but charging people $10 is morally objectionable.

    If I had to speculate It’s to stop people from constantly changing their names to avoid accountability, and so it’s easy to spot your friends

    I’m sure there are also people who have spent a fortune on it.

    Why is it even such a big deal for you all in the first place. Why can you change exactly everything else but names for free?

    It just feels really dumb :/

    Correct me if im wrong but why in the world are you saying something untrue if you have unlimited knowledge, why do you say that i can change my name onces then change it again for free. It doesnt work like that i tried 5 Times to be exact and I need to pay, im confused.

    My Microsoft account is linked to someone else's live account.

    Why would I want to pay $10 to change my name just because I forgot to log out of someone's xbox?

    But then i lose my free gamertag change. And have to pay 10€ for only one required change.

    Why cant just an employee resets my gamertag to something random like the frist time you register.

    Then i just change my name to "Contexys"

    Very important for European customers with banned xbox one!

    And by the way enforcement team GT change counts as your free GT change and you have to pay 10 euros to change it that's why my name now is KindJoey because I stopped giving money to the people who robbed me!
