Why do I have to enter an untypeable password every time to change accounts and play a game?

Well, the first thing I would do is change your account password and not tell them. That way, your kids cannot sign into your account. You can set it to require a passkey that only you know, so you don't have to re-enter the password every time.

The two step verification would be for adding your account to the xbox. Once you sign in and set the settings to no barriers for sign in it will automatically sign you in so you may want to go into settings and either lock it down to where you have to enter
your password every time or enter in a passcode when signing in.

As long as you changed your password on your account and the person that "hacked" your account does not know the new password and if they still have your account on their xbox the next time they try to sign in it will ask for the new password and if they
do not know the new password they will not have access to your account.

why not just pick the option to have to enter in your password every time you want to sing in?

If they don't know the password and you set up your account so that the password needs to be entered for all purchases, then you should be fine. I have my account set up that way and, every time I want to make purchases, I have to enter my password

I believe that changing your Password should result in the account requesting the password to be entered, which in turn will result in not being able to access your account without knowing the password.

It may take some time, but last time I changed mine it resulted in me having to enter the password on my console too.
