Why do i have an id next to my gamertag even though no one has the gamertag?

Hello Master, the numbers referred to are the suffixes (#123456789) if when choosing your gamertag the suffix appears, it means that that Gamertag already exists or is suspended in the system because someone used it before.

Anyway, the choice and exchange of Gamertags process on the Microsoft system is fully automatic, after you have chosen the new Gamertag and made the exchange the system may take a while for the new Gamertag to be updated in all the databases of the developers.

I am so sorry you are having issues changing your gamertag.

The gamertag changer can decide many reasons why a gamertag is not valid. One being used before can be one. Another is if it is deemed offensive.

You can still change your gamertag to a valid option, just not to any deemed invalid.

I do not understand. The gamertag is SutterBock, this is only 10 letters. My current gamertag is SutterBock with an ID of 7286 next to it. It’s not too long of a name. It was originally on a second account of mine and I just changed it today, and when I try to change my current to just SutterBock with no ID next to it, it just keeps trying to put an ID next to it still although the gamertag SutterBock with no additional numbers is not not in use.

Well, then you probably created the Gamertag on the site first and connected that to a Gamertag already. Every Live ID email can only have ONE Gamertag attached. There are ways to create a new Gamertag, and switch around the Live ID's if you absolutely have
to have the free month and keep your Live ID that already has a Gamertag attached.

But for one month only, it's really an unnecessary hassle, seeing that your Gamertag already is golden. If you consider the fact, that you can get 12 or 13 Month Gold prepaid cards for 30 to 40 bucks on ebay (from a reputable seller of course), are 2.50
or 3.33 US$ really worth it spending half an hour creating a "throwaway" Live ID, creating a new Gamertag with a second throwaway address on your console, exchanging the Live ID on your old Gamertag with the new throwaway Live ID to exchange the Live ID of
the new Gold trial Gamertag with your now freed Live ID and then being unable to access your Gaming progress, as no other Gamertag can access the savegames of your current Gamertag?
