Why do Digital games take more space then Disc games on Xbox 360?

Why do Digital games take more space then Disc games on Xbox 360? Like example Batman Arkham City is over 7 GB........ for the digital version of the game.

Why does the Xbox one take so long to install a dlc or game? Yes, the download is done on Havoc dlc but install time is at 36% after an hour. You all really need to work on this.

Also, if you want to go digital you really need more hard drive space. I know Walmart is switching from disc to digital in the next two years, nationwide.

 

How much space do you have used up for games?

I have 6 disc games installed, and around 12 or more digital games which are a mix of full size games and 'arcade' games. I currently have 140GB free space on my Xbox One.

 

seriously? take a step back and think about why an all digital game takes up more space than one that is on a disc...

 

They don't mostly. Game disc sizes have increased to around 8.5GB IIRC. Batman AC is 7.7GB when installed from disc whereas LA Noire installed from disc is way over 20GB but the digital download is nearer to 14GB as it streams assets across the entire game
without the need to have them installed multiple times.

 

because it store the game on the system so you can just click the game to play it

 

I just installed the retail/disc version of the Batman AC GOTY to test this. Breaks down:

Base Game: 7.7GB - 7.8GB post-update.

Catwoman Bundle: 253MB

Batman Inc. Batsuit: 18MB

Challenge Map Pack: 121MB

Arkham Bundle: 261MB

Harley Quinn's Revenge: 962MB

Grand Total: 9.3GB

There's no difference. lol

 

I didn't even know you could copy the game to the hard drive form the disk...
