    Why did you just kick me from a game to do an update?


    Are you not able to tell when I am playing a game?

    How can I disable automatic updates so updates happen when I (and not you) are ready?

    If you're in the preview program they are automatic. If your'e on PC then if ignore them enough they will also auto update for security.

    I've only had it happen once in my entire time playing. I didn't think they did it any more.

    If you are in the preview program, it is your responsibility to check for updates. I check every day as soon as I turn my Xbox on, that way I get no nasty forced updates. You can follow the insider blog here: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/insider/
    which will inform you of pending updates. You can also follow the reddit for insiders too here: https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders/ which also publishes the links to the
    blog about updates.

    Hello

    If it was a system update your console it most likely enrolled in to the preview program.

    Depending on what Preview Ring you might be in you could get 5-7 update a week.

    They do have it. If you ignore it for 8 hours it forces an update.

    Are you in the insider program?

    Last public update was last month on the 12th according to Xbox
