Why did they make the analog sticks on the Xbox One controller so loose?

More resistance on the sticks is the main reason I NEVER went PS3 or 4. Maybe my decision for next gen will be harder now.

 

Are the sticks on the 360 chrome controllers the same as those on the xbox one?

Like Duff said, use the One controller for awhile and then go back to the 360 controller. You will see the One controller is so much better.

 

As someone who wasnt really adapted to the 360 controller (never owned one, only played at friends) and now having the One for a few weeks and going to play Diablo 3 at a friends place yesterday, I think definitely the One controller is better, although
I do say that the heftier feel of the 360 controller gave it a bit more durable feel, but outside that impression and for the actual "features" I think One controller wins easily.

 

Looser Sticks = less friction on the "piston/actuator" that returns the Stick to it's center position.

So, in theory it should extend the lifespan of the Stick assembly. XB1/PS4 Sticks assemblies are smaller than XB360/XBOX/PS3/PS2 and weaker in structural design. Good thing they're "looser" otherwise they would break much faster.

I personally never liked the 360 stiffer Sticks feeling but I loved the PS3's softer ones. I still do. And for the right Stick I always used a concave "domed" PS3 Thumbcap. Best Analog Sticks were the PS3 ones.

Domed Thumbcaps and softer. Quality wise, they are all quite the same.

 

The trick is to play the sticks in the middle.

You do not need to hit the plastic at the outside.

As more you use it in the middle as more accurate it will be.

Just relax more when playing you dont need to cramp or push hard like with other controllers.

 

The Xbox One controller is absolutely fantastic. I think it is nearly perfect. It fits nicely in my hand, the toggles have perfect grip with the location of the toggles perfectly aligned. I have no complaints

 

I might be bumping this, but I really hate the new loose analog sticks on the Xbox One. Poor choice by the designers.

 

I too hate them, broke 2 of them already, Xo controller is not made for my large hands.

 

Having the sticks loose is alright but after a while they start to get too loose and it gets too hard to aim. Just recently replaced my sticks with some new ones to remedy the issue.
