Why did the game suddenly play so different?

I was playing one week, and had finally acquired some great players... basing most of themy around defense, and an attacking front line. Team reached 97 OVR. I played seasons this entire week, made it to playoffs every season I played... didn't win superbowl,
but hey they were good games. By the end of the week my team played completely different... absolutely no front line penetration... played man with my CB's they couldn't keep up with players 3/4 of their rating. My defense fell apart, and then my offense...
very run heavy stopped gaining those extra yards after contact. Forced to throw, I have good receivers... but my timing can be off sometimes, so I start losing, to players with teams rated much lower than mine... and at first I'm thinking maybe these guys
are just good... lots of experience, and can just play better than me regardless of the team differential, but the losses don't stop coming, so I try changing up strategy... pass more change some hot routes, flood one side of the screen with more receivers,
less men to guard them... it still doesn't work. My defense has completely changed... I user very little because my defense was so good, so I KNOW it changed. Maybe someone can tell me what the point of working so hard to acquire better players is, whenever
they don't player any better than standard elites? I've lost the drive to play the game because it changed so drastically for me. It's like Madden gives lower rated teams some sort of skill handicap if your OVR is higher than theirs... MAKE THE GAME THE WAY
IT WAS, AND STOP SCREWING WITH IT!

Why did the game suddenly go from 1503 to 1507 with no explanations of what happened inbetween?

Yeh I see what they did there.

I still think its shoddy tho, they should be unlockables.

make a game, sell the game to make money. Why is there suddenly the need for devs/pubs to try and constantly make money out gamers?

 

If you have successful seasons (playoffs) the tier you're playing moves up and during the next season you'll be likely matched with players from your new tier.

This maybe explains why you're struggling more: experienced players know how to overcome defenses even if their ovr is high, in particular if like you said you don't user much.

At the same time the pass rush these players can generate is much stronger.

After a loosing season you'll be demoted to a lower tier... once this happens, see if you go back being successful !
