Why did my Xbox One S beep and click

Wow really? Well I guess it's not even worth me sending it in after reading that. Mine don't even do it once a day so I'm certain they would probably do the same with mine. They probably turned it on a couple times expecting to hear it right away and just
gave up on it when they didn't hear it. What kills me is they obviously designed it to make the noise for some reason yet no one seems to know what's causing it. I guess all I can do is wait and see if it causes it to stop working and then send it in, but
with my luck it would stop working after the warranty expires. Luckily I plan on selling it for Scorpio right around the time the warranty is up.

 

Yea pretty lame. I did have the console on the preview program. I removed it and put it back on the stable release OS. I am going to see if that has anything to do with it. I also moved all my games to a faster loading external drive for now. To me the click
and beep seems like a hard drive issue (which i stuck a letter in the box when I shipped my xbox saying that) to see if they would just replace the hard drive, but nothing. I'm in the same boat as you, will get rid of it when the scorpio comes out anyways
and still have my elite xbox if something serious happens and I have to send it in again. I got it back yesterday morning and it hasn't done anything as of yet. Good luck!

 

Yea I was in the preview program back on the 360 but opted out when it was causing too many problems with my 360, so I don't think that would be the issue. Yea I should probably just get an external hard drive myself. Thanks, good luck to you as well.

 

Did you manage to find out what was wrong with it? I'm having the same issue and i sent it in and they sent it back saying they couldn't find anything wrong. Its really annoying

 

I googled this problem, and it brought me here. I pre-ordered the Gears of War LE 2TB Xbox One S, and within a week it did the beep and click. It doesn't do it every day, but semi-regularly. I hope this doesn't become a serious issue, because if I take it
in for repair/replacement, I'll definitely run in to the "we don't know what you're talking about/can't get it to happen" problem.

Hopefully someone from Microsoft can shed some light on this!!

 

i bought the Gears LE One S about 3 weeks ago. Same problem... A second long beep instantly followed by a click. Sometimes it beeps without the click but it makes me very uncomfortable every time. This is so odd.

 

I think it's an issue w 2TB consoles (something going on w the larger HD), in particular the red gears ones. It was happening to mine, exchanged it for another and now this one does the same thing.

 

I am on my replacement Xbox One S 2TB and it does the same thing. Both have done it.......doesn't seem to do anything but be annoying. Trying to go through different options on the console to see if something causes it.

 

just had a lengthy chat w Microsoft/Xbox. After looking into it, it was concluded that the beep/noise is a way for the console to read he larger storage device-hence why this is happening on the 2TB consoles. No reason to worry and it shouldn't mess with
performance.

 

My limited edition GoW 2tb does this as well. I can confirm it is a downside of the 2tb drive they use. I have the same one in my ps4 and it does the exact same thing. The one in my ps4 is nearly 3 years old and still going strong so don't worry about it
dying. It is unfortunately normal.

 

Hi guys. I thought I'd add my experience here. 2tb Xbox one s.

I had the exact same symptoms as described until recently. I installed more games and used more disk space. Since this point I've had no noises clocks or beeps from the console.

Not sure if it's a coincidence or not but at least it's no longer an issues here

Not to revive an old thread but I was told to post my results after sending my console in. So my Xbox powered itself off and wouldn't power back on around the holidays so I had no choice but to send it in. I'm not sure if the beeping and clicking is what caused
it. I made sure to put a note in with my console telling them my issues since purchase, one of which was the beeping and clicking. I got my console back about a week ago and though it's working again it's still doing the beep and click. So either it didn't
cause it and is normal or it did cause it and they just got the console working without fixing the real issue that led to it dying. I was hoping to get a note detailing what was wrong and fixed but got nothing but a note saying it was "tested extensively to
insure it was working".

 

I got my GoW 4 Xbox one 2tb like 2 months ago and its also doing the same noise, short high pitched sound then a clicking type noise. Hasnt caused any issues but rather annoying if anything.

 

Im late for the party, but ive been having this problem since i got the one s August 2nd 2016. Not often, but it makes the noise maybe once a week somethimes twice. Haven't noticed any problems with the console running. But i do notice its warm after the
noise. My console for a while was plugged directly into a while, and i just moved it into a surge protector thing.
