Why did my XBox just randomly start downloading Marvel Heroes Omega?

I went out of the room to make a pot of tea, when I came back in, my XBox had just decided to start downloading this game, all by itself.

Why?

Admittedly I'd not heard of this game before and it certainly made me aware of it, but this cannot even be some kind of good marketing strategy, loads of people aren't as fortunate as me to have a solid fibre optic connection with no data caps. Just having
the console randomly start installing games, and not small ones either, while there is nobody in the room seems a bit sleazy.

What's going on with this?

Lost all progress

Same thing happened to me. Completely wiped my stats. I've also been having trouble with Kinect randomly switching users for no apparent reason, in Killer Instinct and in Marvel Super Heroes. Very frustrating.

This kind of nonsense is why I have Windows update set to require confirmation from me on everything, I certainly don't have the patience or time to deal with it installing a "recommended" piece of software while I am in the middle of something, or for it
to install something without my consent that turns out to be bugged and bricks something else (as happened once, and only ever once, before I was smart enough to know to never install patches day one) - if XBox is now installing "recommended" *games* without
my consent there needs to be some kind of option to disable it.

 

Do you share your console with anyone else or has anyone else used your console and possibly set your console as their Home? That games hasn't been part of any recent promotions so it shouldn't be downloading automatically

 

Nope. Only me. I live alone and all my friends use their own consoles. Only my account on here.
