why did my xbox frie my computer?

(as i write this im still dealing with the problem now) So lets start

from the beginning after my labtop started to die i was about done with

labtops, after only having this for 2 years it was falling apart. So I

look into building my own desktop i saved up the money and it was easy

enough to build but after my first week with it something happened! It

won't to turn on why? well my first idea was the power supply maybe i

got a bad one after reading online what to do i jump it. Ok then it work

maybe it mobo (motherboard) yes that's it but after sending it back to

newgg there nothing they can do because I did a mail n rebate, really ok

so i buy a new mobo and it working again yay!!! But now i found out

that something is feed back power in my room at first i was think maybe

its my cable box from dish nope, the tv or capture card for my xbox one?

Nope then what what could be feeding back power and making things pop

fire at when I try to plug something in? the one the only yes my xbox

one I don't know how people this has happen to but i'm all but done. I

have to send my new mobo back to amazon and hope to get a new one and

buy a new xbox one cant send it to Microsoft because its out of warranty

and if i do ill have to pay to ship it and for $115 Usd for a new one.

For real really this is really happening i've had to deal with this for a

month now my phone broke the other day had to buy a new one, my

rechargeable batteries died had to buy new ones. im out of a capture

card got to buy a new one, my set is not even done and i have fix all of

this and all i want to know why? how? how to thing just start feed

power into a something else; i had tv and it did the same thing but sold

it but now i'm just about to cry and i just what an answer from someone

please just tell me how does this happen and how can i keep it from

happening again!!!

You must be very down on your luck, lately.

I wouldn't think the Xbox power supply would "backfeed" power back into your circuit and somehow fry your computer, if I'm reading that right.

I'd check if your electrical outlets aren't being overloaded or getting surges.

 

NOTHING today would send a feedback through your house's electrical lines and fry other things in the same room.... either plug everything into things like CyberPower UPS backups.... or get a electrician to your house cause something is wrong with your house.....

 

if your using a 4 way or more gang to plug everything in, then this is not recommended for Xbox one as it states to plug into a wall outlet, other than that it is physically impossible to cause a surge through your power outlets from the Xbox one psu as
it would fry its own built in protections circuits first. you could be overloading your sockets if you have alot of things plugged in, also what rating is the psu on your desktop.

While that doesn't sound very fun. I would have to agree with the rest of the posters. The xbox would not be able to draw enough current to cause a spike in your circuit. Most of the time if the computer doesn't power up, I would recommend checking the
power supply of the computer; it is also typically the cheaper fix as well.

Going forward in the future; do not overload circuit(s), and use surge protectors (at minimum), and use a good quality UPS (such as CyberPower or APC) that would have AVP (automatic voltage protection)

 

A, not so unusual mistake one could make when building their own computer, is they forget the small threaded brass standoffs screws, mounted between the metal case and the motherboard. Make sure those are in place, to keep the motherboard safe from touching
the metal case.
