    Why did Microsoft decide to remove the remote play from the app?


    It’s now impossible for me to play on my iPhone. It will try to connect show the jet then the connect to console reappears. It’s harder to connect the controller as well. It should have just been added as an additional feature not take away what was already working. If this is a way to try and get people to buy the hand held it sucks. I like being able to have something in my pocket not something else to carry around.

    Remote Play button missing from Windows Xbox app

    This has just happened to me. I have an Xbox One and it's been working fine since I started playing remotely in January. It was fine yesterday. I went to play this afternoon and the button was missing from the app. I've tried everything I can think of and nothing worked so I decided to uninstall the app and start afresh. The app stops downloading at 130kb!

    I'm hoping it's just a temporary problem that Microsoft are working on because it's really frustrating. I can play on the big TV but I prefer to remotely play on my PC.

    Hi ghrfg,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues using the Remote Play feature of your Xbox.

    In order to enable remote play, you need to enable remote features from the settings of your console.

    Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.

    Select the Enable remote features checkbox.

    In Xbox App Preferences, you need to select "Allow connections from any device" if you want to remove any authentication.

    If these settings are already configured properly, here are the steps on how you could proceed with the remote play.

    On a mobile device:

    Open the Xbox mobile app.

    Select the My Library icon and select Consoles.

    Select the console you want to connect to and then press Remote play on this device.

    On a Windows device:

    Open the Xbox app for PC.

    Click on your profile picture and select View profile.

    Under Where I play, select the Add a console option and follow the steps shown.

    Under Power options, select Sleep.

    Important: If your console power mode isn’t set to Sleep, remote play won’t work
