Why did i receive a Communication Ban when it was the other player who sent the hate message?

While playing Rainbow 6 siege i got shot in the back and immediately received a message from a teammate saying "RETARD" even though i had pulled my weight through the game so far i wasnt sure why he would send this message so i replied
WITH a question mark at the end "RETARD?" asking why i warrented that message when my death was unavoidable. within 2 minutes i receive a communication BAN. Please explain how this can happen. if he reported my message surely while being reviewed it could
be plainly seen that the other user that sent the abbusive message. why am i being punished? and now with a communication ban i am unable to play Siege on Ranked because communication is needed to perform well as a team and to rank up.

Unjustified Ban

I have a ban on my account to apparently "communication violation" when I have not sent anything hateful to anyone to cause this ban. This is a 7-day ban which is ridiculous considering I have no reason. I have been told that I have committed inappropriate
communication, however to fully understand why this ban was put on my account, I wanted to know what had happened and what message I could've sent to cause such a stupidly long ban, however I received no specification, which I understand is to keep the other
users privacy safe, however I simply don't care who the other user is, I just really need to know what I could've possible done to receive a 7-day ban, so when I get a week off work, my consoles communication is disabled.

Need to get ahold of enforcement

It will depend on the type of suspension you receive. Just because the ban was because of communications does not always mean that you received a communications only suspension. You could have receive a suspension from all xbox live functions, but with
out seeing the message you were sent I could not say what it is positively. If it is truly a communications only suspension, there is a little catch I learned about the other day from xbox support that if the game requires communications to play a communications
ban will prevent you from playing that game.

It doesn't matter who it starts, if you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct, you are equally at fault. Since you repeated what he said, then that would have violated it. There is no way for you to knw whether or not he has received and enforcement
action and even if he hasn't yet, it doesn't mean he won't.

Thank you for your reply. I understand if I used that word in context of calling him/her back. But It was not aimed at anyone. I just find the whole ordeal silly. I can't believe people are allowed to abuse the report function. He/she
dished it out but is allowed to report others immediately afterwards. The nerve people have to send hate messages and when they receive a reply to report them.

First it does not matter who started it they look at your actions and if it is a violation of the code of conduct then the enforcement team will put a suspension onto an account.

This is why there is an option to report another player and mute and block that player so that you do not receive any messages from that person or get matched with them in another game.

It does take time for the enforcement team to review your case if you did file for a case review it is not an instant thing.

At this point it is just a waiting game for the enforcement team to review your case and let you know if they can lift the suspension sooner.

bro I swear to god someone sent me a hate message and as soon as I sent one back I was banned they were right on me but not the other person who started it all even though he said some awful stuff to me

best off reporting the player, blocking and ignoring them, It does not matter who sent the first message, If the other player reported your friend and it was deemed he broke the code of conduct then your friend would receive a ban.
